the prices aren't as ridiculous as you say. let's take a example. most electronic music that was later released domestically, like plug's drum n bass for papa, which was later released by nothing records. if you go into a music store dnb for papa is selling for about 15.99, or 14.99. look at the other domestic (US) electronic music release prices, they're about the same, 16 or 15 dollars, it's sort of rare to find electronic music on sale anywhere. then look at the price of the new autechre album for instance, the import: straight from modernmusic: -------------------------------------------------------- AUTECHRE:lp5:CD: $19.99 AUTECHRE:lp5:VINYL: $18.99 it will be here on wednesday. i was very unsure how many to get, so if you let me know asap i can be sure that eveyone who wants one, gets one it is in fact export banned, but where there is a will.... the cd will be out domestic at an unspecified date and the lp is not slated for domestic release -------------------------------------------------------- there you go 20 dollars for the cd and 19 for the vinyl, which isn't even going to be released in the US. a four dollar difference for the cd. i think i speak for most autechre fans when i say that 4 (3 if you're getting the vinyl) dollars isn't a huge amount if you're going to end up getting the release months before the domestic. that's my only point. import prices have dropped due to music stores like modernmusic, bent crayon, and many others ordering so many damn copies of everything. now if nothing records was planning on releasing it the same week then it'd be a different story. -kiya i am a copier. we are not all copiers.

Although when I originally bought DnB for Papa the single disc import in Canada it was close to $30...when Nothing rereleased it with 2 discs it was $15...... of course it was over a year later..anyone want to wait a year for Ae.? not eye said the blind man..... spaul

Good point well made. I wish prices here were as reasonable. Just convert $ to pounds and you're about there. Anyone near Manchester should visit Vinyl Exchange if they want cheap promo's and s/h. Yesterdays purchases included two more Muslimgauze and the Like A Tim CD, which seems pretty neat so far. Also picked up the JP Buckle CD on Rephlex. Should last me until next week's fix!
